Hyattsville council approves Artway plans
A special session of Hyattsville’s city council voted Monday night to approve Maryland National Capital Park and Planning Commission planner Karen Buxbaum’s conceptual site plan for Artway North.
Citing landscaping and traffic patterns as primary concerns, the council gave Buxbaum the nod to move forward with the plan, which will weave the route down Jefferson Street.
Other route options included Hamilton and Gallatin Streets, but the council rejected them as not showing the best side of the city in the way Jefferson Street can.
The Artway North, part of the Gateway Arts District plans, will use landscaping, crosswalks, bicycle lanes and local art to provide a showcase of Hyattsville.
The Hyattsville City Council is scheduled to hold its regular meeting Monday at 8 p.m. at 4310 Gallatin St.
