A DARWEN florist’s has reached the finals of the National Flower Shop of the Year Awards.

Hodkinson’s, of Duckworth Street, successfully completed round one of the competition, achieving a Silver Award of Excellence.

It now goes head-to-head with around 200 other florists across the country for the Gold Award.

The winning shop will win £5,000 to invest in the business.

The next stage will involve rising to the challenge of mystery shoppers and mystery telephone calls.

Owner Emily Reece said: “The whole team is really chuffed to have got this far.

“The questions were pretty tough and it’s really motivating to know we’re getting most things right.

“I’m sure it will raise our profile locally.”
