Autopsy to determine cause of death of infant found at plant nursery
Miami-Dade police today are awaiting the result of an autopsy to determine the cause of death of a baby found in a portable toilet at a plant nursery in Southwest Miami-Dade Monday night.
The infant was found at the Costa Nursery Farms at 22290 SW 162nd Ave.
Detectives hope the autopsy will show whether the baby was stillborn or died after birth. The body of the infant was discovered by a worker the nursery in a port-o-let deep inside the property.
It is unclear if the baby was born there or left there. ”It’s undetermined as to if this is a homicide,” said Miami-Dade Det. Roy Rutland.
Police have begun the search for the mother and have acquired a list of all the female employees at the plant nursery.
