Flower Show a field of friendship
Young people in Knowsley are being invited to a festival with real flower power this August.
In the true spirit of Glastonbury, this year Knowsley Flower Show is about much more than blooms, and offers young people aged 12-19 years the Friendship Field with live music performances, workshops and alternative therapies, all being held at Court Hey Park on Sunday August 6 from 10-5pm during the show.
For the first time the Flower Show is offering young people their own area in ‘The Friendship Field’ to be able meet new and old friends and take part in fun, creative activities.
Throughout the day there will be live performances from well known bands including Fade 2, Street Feet, Little Feet plus other bands and groups.
There are also specific areas such as the ‘rave tent’ where DJing workshops will take place along with Samba drumming, Visual art and jewellery making.
But if you want to take things easy in the heat then take advantage of the ‘chill out tent’ where you can learn about alternative therapies, hair braiding and beauty.
Also available in the friendship field will be tree decorating, poetry and art workshops.
Cllr Eddie Connor, Knowsley’s Cabinet Member for Leisure Community and Culture, said: “The Flower Show is always a big summer attraction for families. Now in its eighth year we are aiming to make sure the event keeps its sparkle and we aim to do this through offering something for everyone. So come and bring the whole family along and enjoy the day.”
