Mock wedding held at Wesley Village
A mock wedding was held at Wesley Village, Pittston, with Jolly Joe (Alex Truszkowski) as emcee. Residents, staff members and visitors participated in the traditional bridal dance with entertainment provided by Jolly Joe and His Bavarians and Clarence Lukashewski, former leader of Lukashewski Polka Melodies. The bouquet and garter were caught by residents Amelia Navorouski and Joseph Lendacky, and in keeping with the wedding tradition, he placed it on her leg. The ‘wedding hall’ was decorated with pink tablecloths, wedding bells and flowers. The Nanticoke Polka Friends volunteers donated a three-tier homemade wedding cake and refreshments for the event. Ted Androkavitz, ‘father of the bride,’ gave a traditional champagne toast. First row, from left: Lendacky; Tami Chesniak, director of activities; Elizabeth Stone, flower girl; and Navorouski. Second row: Joseph Hetzner, groom; Loretta Chmura, bride; Louise Stuart and Norma Johnson, bridesmaids; Carol Kravitz, flower girl; Sylvia Vilchock; Anne Gorski, mother of the bride; Felicia Lukashewski; and Clarence Lukashewski. Third row: David Johnson, minister; John Ptashinski, musician; and Jolly Joe. Absent from photo: Androkavitz, Jay Miller and Pete Truszkowski, musicians; and Kay Jones, mother of the groom.
