Enthusiastic gardeners make flower show bloom
THE Addingham Allotments and Gardens Association Annual Show proved to be another successful event last weekend.
Enthusiastic exhibitors converged on the village Memorial Hall on Main Street to set out a wonderful display of vegetables, flowers, homecraft, and children’s displays.
There were almost 400 entries and the show was well attended with a steady stream of visitors. The winning trophies were presented by retiring Addingham GP, Doctor Eugene Raubitschek, 28 years after presenting the trophies when he first arrived in the village.
Dr Raubitschek and his wife, Stephanie, were presented with a spray of locally grown dahlias.
The parish council awards for the best kept garden, went to Mrs Wells-Oliver, of Ridley’s Fold, and best Main Street frontage, to Andrew Hird’s insurance brokers. They were presented by Councillor Barbara Haigh.
The Addingham Garden Friends Roland Varley Memorial Trophy for hanging baskets was presented by Don Barrett to Croft Cottage, Sugar Hill.
