Experiments the buzzword for bridalwear
Head to Bollywood for sangeet, Goa for cocktails, Rajasthan for a wedding and Rome for reception. These aren’t the new wedding destinations rather, different themes from designer Malini Ramani’s bridalwear collection to be showcased at Bridal Asia.
The designer recently gave a preview of her collection along with Kiran Uttam Ghosh and jewellery house, Amrapali.
“I have four different themes -Bollywood, tropical, Rajasthani and Roman bride. A bride can experiment with different looks on different occasions,” said the designer. Adding, “The entire range is not only for the bride but also for her friends and family members.”
The dresses showcased by Malini belonged to the Roman bride category. A golden lehenga with tone-on-tone work complemented by a noodle string blouse. “This one is for cocktails and other occasions,” said she. It’s first time that Ramani is venturing into bridalwear. “I am very excited and have tried out something different,” she said. Besides creative satisfaction, earning big bucks is prime on her agenda. “Wedding season is the most lucrative time for a designer,” Malini added. With the fashion week two months away, what plans does she have? “I’ve always done resort wear. I’ll do a proper fall-winter collection this time with special concentration on jerseys,” said she.
Kiran Uttam Ghosh, whose designs are generally understated, has introduced a bright collection this time. “I’ve added a little bling to it,” said Ghosh. She showcased a fuschia lehenga with gold work and a gold backless blouse.
Amrapali’s Rajiv Arora, describing his collection said, “We have a couple of ranges. One Victorian style jewellery with emeralds and tourmalines. Other, traditional Rajasthani jadau.”
A model also showcased a silver set with rose quartz and another with emerald from the collection.
