Find the link between art and gardening
A prominent gardener and Detroit Institute of Arts expert will explore the relationship between artists and horticulture in a presentation at the Jan. 16 meeting of Troy’s Evening Primrose Garden Club.
Linda Wells, a Detroit Institute of Arts 18-year associate, will present “Art in Bloom,” the result of a study that examines the reasons artists use plants in paintings or art objects and what that choice means to the audience for whom the art was created.
Wells, a master gardener and horticulture graduate student, is currently vice chair of the oversight group for the DIA’s 700 volunteers.
The Evening Primrose Garden Club will meet at 7 p.m. at the Troy Community Center. Refreshments will be served. Everyone is welcome. Donation of $3 will be accepted.
For further information, contact Jan Zikakis at (248) 528-1919.
The club is accepting new members who may or may not be Troy residents. Meetings are held the third Tuesday of each month at the Troy Community Center.
