Spring Flower festival to attract regional artisans
A flower festival, which will begin in Ho Chi Minh City on Feb. 12, five days before the Lunar New Year Festival, will be a playing field for not only Vietnamese artisans but also for horticulturalists from other Asian countries and territories, according to an organising board official.
So far, more than 500 bonsai artists from Thailand, Taiwan, Malaysia, Singapore, the Republic of Korea and Viet Nam have registered for a booth at the festival, Tran Thien Ha, Deputy Director of the 2007 Spring Flower Festival Organising Board said on Feb. 6.
Apart from rare bonsai trees and flowers cultivated by local artists, Thai artists are expected to bring many different varieties of orchids and Malaysian and Singaporean artisans will display miniature gardens.
The festival will also feature various species of flowers from cold climates, ornamental fish and butterflies, he added.
