Colors and fabrics for home interior in 2008/09
The home decoration reflects the personalities, temperaments and likes of a person or a family. Each person or family is stating themselves through the choice in color, fabric and pattern.
Trend forecast for 2008
In 2008, International Colour Authority forecasts three major home interior themes for home textile manufacturers. Artificial multicolor takes the lead as visuals in the daily life are abundant. Bright colors, with an influence of light, are popular. Unique use of colors and light is important to attract eyeballs. Reflections and neon with a metallic touch are used to imitate the exciting city life outside the home.
Dark and rich gives a sense of mystery and opulence at home. Shadows in purple color and midnight blue are the perfect examples to create a new home of admirers of Kafkaesque and/or suspension films. Of course, there is more than the classic darkness of human being – the use of glitter and luster generates yet another perspective of rich darkness in an anonymous home of a city.
The last theme for 2008 is the fusion of minimalism and baroque. Lucia Carpio, Marketing Director of International Colour Authority, uses five words and phases to explain it – decadent, vintage, sequined, luxurious and optical illusion. It can be fabrics and pattern, and even a particular color that calls for memory and feelings – merry and sad, rich or poor in life as well as in spirit. Optical illusions can be funny or vivid illustrations of the unpredictable life of our own.
Forecast for 2009

# Wild, ethnic and earthy: woodsy browns and yellow, accentuated with earthy shades;
# Dramatic, energetic and provocative: burlesque reds and pinks; and
