Carmin’s Flowers is business of the month
Laredo Chamber of Commerce Chairman John Villarreal an-nounced the selection of Carmin’s Flower Shop as the Business of the Month for the month of February. In making the announcement at the January meeting of the Board, Villarreal made mention of Carmin’s long history of collaboration with the chamber.
“Small businesses form the backbone of the chamber. Carmin’s Flower Shop, with its long history serves as role model for budding businesses in the community,” he said.
A delegation led by Villarreal then visited the Carmin’s Flower Shop installations on Feb. 1, to make the official announcement and present Minerva Ramirez, owner, with a banner pronouncing the designation. Selected businesses have the opportunity to display the banner during the course of the month.
Carmin’s Flower Shop has been a member in good standing of the chamber for 44 years. Under the management of the Ramirez family, Carmin’s has been an involved actively in community and school-related affairs for many years. WBCA is but one example of the many activities the family supports.
The Laredo Chamber of Commerce has taken a new initiative as part of its 2006-2007 plan of action to recognize businesses that serve as role models within the chamber structure.
Every month beginning with the month of October 2006, the Membership Committee of the chamber selects a company as Business of the Month.
The following criteria are applied in making the selection:
- A substantial history as a member in good standing of the Laredo Chamber
- Embodies the spirit of the chamber, serves as a role model for others
- Corporate Citizenship: contributions to civic minded projects
- Participation: involvement /support for Chamber related activities.
