Joining the famous Burj al Arab and Emirates Towers hotels, the latest distinctive skyscraper planned for Dubai is the Regent Dubai Canal Point, set for completion in 2010.
The hotel’s distinctive design, by US architects practice Burt Hill, is inspired by the Asian lotus flower. At about 460m high, the building promises to be a landmark, even in a city of so many high-rise buildings as Dubai.
Set in serene, relaxing surroundings, the Dubai Canal Point is part of a major multi-purpose development right in the heart of the city.
The development will consist of three office towers, two major residential towers and a community services area, including a medical centre and a Thai-inspired wellness centre.
The force behind the Regent Dubai Canal Point is developer Istithmar, which is spearheading some of the other most ambitious construction projects in Dubai, including Palm Island, World Islands and the Dubai Waterfront.
The Regent development will comprise approximately 250 luxurious guestrooms, 255 serviced apartments and 105 residential apartments.
The hotel will offer a range of bar and restaurant facilities, including a top-floor restaurant, a spa and wellness area, extensive conference facilities consisting of approximately 20 meeting rooms and two ballrooms, a 300-capacity lecture theatre, and a library.
