Flower, vegetable show inaugurated
A TWO-DAY flower and vegetable show was inaugurated at Central Ground in Diesel Locomotive Works (DLW) on Wednesday.
Chief electrical engineer of DLW, Ashok Kumar Jain inaugurated the show. Several varieties of flowers and vegetables have been put on display. Some competitions such as permanent plant in pot, annuals plants in pot, cut annuals, cut roses, king and queen of the show are also being organised.
Besides, bouquet, greeting cards, buttonhole and marriage mandap have been exhibited in the show. Breeders from district horticulture unit, Northern Railways, Banaras Hindu University, 39 GTC, Central Jail, State Bank of India, Hotel Taj, Delhi Public School are participating in the show.
King of the show prize was given to the red rose displayed by Sansar Nursery (Manduadeeh) whereas school of management sciences won the prize of queen of the show title.
Chief project engineer, LD Bohra, finance advisor, Manjeet Singh Bhatia, PD Gupta, Hemant Katiyar and Anoop Kumar were among other prominent officials who visited the show. The show is open from 8 am to 7 pm.
