Ceasarstone to Sponsor Architecture for Humanity Program
Nearly two years ago, August 29, 2005, Hurricane Katrina reached the Gulf Coast—rebuilding continues. Quartz surfaces manufacturer Ceasarstone recently signed on to Architecture for Humanity’s Hurricane Katrina Model Home program, dedicated to helping East Biloxi, Mississippi families whose homes were destroyed.
In East Biloxi, an estimated 80 percent of housing in Wards one and two was destroyed or is now uninhabitable. Most of these home owners, some of the city’s poorest residences, were not covered by flood insurance—before Katrina, the area was not considered a flood zone. Ceasarstone will supply quartz countertops for all homes developed through the program, which is a partnership between Architecture Humanity, Oprah’s Angel Network, and the Biloxi Relief Recovery and Revitalization Center.
“Working with Architecture for Humanity has provided us with an amazing opportunity to do something tangible to help these families who have lost everything,” says Arik Tendler, president of CaesarStone quartz surfaces.
