Flower show to welcome the spring
SHANGHAI is going to display more than 1.8 million plants and flowers at the Shanghai Botanical Garden during the annual spring flower show from April 6 to May 7.
The 65,000-square-meter outdoor show will display more than 300 species of flowers and plants, said Hu Yonghong, director of Shanghai Botanical Garden.
The exhibition will be divided into three sections to display flowers, special Chinese flowers and flower arrangements.
The flower arrangements section is designed as a beautiful ecological garden which shows model arrangements of lawns, gardens and parterres.
New species of flowers and plants, including snapdragon, dianthus, impatiens wallerana, will also be displayed.
As well, visitors can vote for the flowers they want to see at the World Expo Shanghai 2010 during the flower show.
Shanghai Botanical Garden is located in the city’s southwest. The ordinary entry free is 15 yuan (US$ 1.9), but prices may rise during the flower show.
