WINNERS of the Riffa Views Bahrain International Garden Show (BIGS) competitions were announced yesterday.

The student and adult competitions were in furniture-building, pottery making and scientific projects.

Entries were submitted at the Bahrain International Exhibition Centre (BIEC) on Saturday and judging took place on Sunday.

First prize-winners of the competitions will receive their awards from chairwoman of the Supreme Council for Women Her Highness Shaikha Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa at a ceremony on Wednesday at the BIEC.

Riffa Views BIGS will be held from Thursday to Sunday at the BIEC.

It is held under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad and with support of the King’s wife Shaikha Sabeeka.

The flower, lifestyle and garden show, under the theme Desert-Scaping, will feature rare desert plant species, eco-friendly events, as well as seminars and presentations promoting environmental awareness and new technologies.

It will also showcase the Bahrain Garden Club’s (BGC) 42nd Annual Amateur Flower and Vegetable Show. .

Salman Khalil Ibrahim Al Titun from Al Salah Boys’ Primary School wins BD500; Zahira Al Sayyed Mohammed Al Qassab, Manama Social Centre, BD300; Yusif Ahmed Al Othman, Hidd Boys Intermediate School, BD200.

Pottery competition (decorative/artistic works):

Manal Zaki Tawfeek, BD500; Zahraa Abdulla Ali, Manama Social Centre, BD300; Mishaal Mohammed Jumaa, Ibn Rosh Boys Intermediate School, BD200.

Scientific competition (secondary standard):
