New Resort Painting & Decorating
Contractors, designers and homeowners can now find high-end paints and custom counter tops and window treatments at a new, one-stop, interior design store in Lewes.
Resort Paint & Decorating, which opened in February, is the Cape Region’s newest signature Benjamin Moore paint store. Beyond the Easter Pink and Azure Water paints available in the store’s Regal Matte collection, designers can also find deck and siding finishes, tools and natural stone, porcelain and ceramic tiles.
Longtime Susx County residents and owners Tom Taylor and John Mancuso plan to unveil their interior-upgrade collection at a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 1 p.m., Friday, March 9, followed by grand opening events and specials from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, March 10. Activities include tours, refreshments, door prizes, meeting the staff, and a live broadcast from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. by WGMD’s Dan Gaffney.
Taylor is 30-year wall-covering veteran, specializing in faux and custom finishes. He got his start in the business after working with his father at Taylor & Sons Painting. Mancuso, who has lived in Lewes for 18 years, is known by many for his expertise at J.G.M. Associates Inc. Custom Painting.
Both paint professionals can help designers select the perfect paint from many palettes at their new, 2,300-square-foot store on Route 1, located at the Shoppes of Sandbar Village at the Nassau bridge.
“We’re going for the retail market, including homeowners, decorators and painting contractors,” said Mancuso.
“We also carry Sikkens, which is a premium deck and siding finish,” said Taylor.
Many may be familiar with the Benjamin Moore color scheme, such as Provence Cream and Phillipsburg Blue, featured on the set of “Desperate Housewives.”
Benjamin Moore’s Regal Matte line, said Taylor, is stain-resistant, washable and easily scrubbed, which is good for the many young families with children moving into the Cape Region.
Devine Paint is another of the lines the store offers outside the Benjamin Moore collection.
The Devine line, founded by northwestern businesswoman Gretchen Schauffler, has really taken off, said Mancuso. “It’s a really designer-friendly company,” Mancuso said, noting the paints are represented by vivid colors.
The store also has a color consultant on hand, Donald Prol of Color Solutions of Delaware. He’s a store associate who helps designers coordinate their color schemes.
For blinds and shades, Resort Paint & Decorating offers Hunter Douglas window treatments, but for softer treatments, such as drapes and curtains, the owners use an outside consultant. If a designer is not quite sure what shade of paint to buy, owners also offer wet color samples, or small bottles of colors to test walls before buying 1-gallon or 5-gallon cans.
From rollers to extension poles, putties and caulks, designers can find everything paint and more under one roof.
Resort Paint & Decorating is located at 19413 Jingle Shell Way, Unit 1 in Lewes, near the Route 1 overpass. The store is open from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday; and from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, with extended summer hours. For more information, call 644-8100 or go to www.resortpaint.com.
