Garden Tours & Luncheons For Groups At Lasdon Arboretum
Mt. Kisco, NY – You and your group are invited to enjoy lunch at Westchester County’s largest publicly owned arboretum followed by a guided tour of its beautiful collections of specimen plantings during garden tours for groups to be offered for the first time at Lasdon Park, Arboretum and Veterans Memorial in Somers.
Lasdon Park, Arboretum and Veterans Memorial is a 234-acre park and developing arboretum featuring many species of trees, shrubs and perennials, and is home to the Lasdon Memorial Garden and the Famous and Historic Tree Trail. Memorials honoring Westchester veterans are also located at the park.
Beginning May 21 and running through September 30, garden clubs, organizations and other organized groups will begin with lunch on the scenic patio at the Shop of Lasdon, where they can browse a variety of plants and garden-related items for sale. Then, Lasdon horticulturist Tolly Beck will take the group on their own private tour of one of the arboretum’s many features: a lilac and azalea collection, a conifer and magnolia collection, a chestnut grove, a hemlock study, a Chinese culture garden, a woods ramble, and colorful border gardens with perennials galore. The tour will also offer the group the opportunity to visit the arboretum’s Colonial-style Main House or the inspirational memorials that are located at the park.
Fee for the group tour is $100, which will benefit the Glass House Conservatory that is planned for the park. Group size is limited to 35 people and reservations are required. Tours are available seven days a week.
Members can bring their own lunch or purchase a boxed lunch in advance for an additional fee of $8.50 per person. The lunch will feature a choice of sandwich, salad, chips, cookies and fruit, along with bottled water or soda.
