2007 Flower Show opens
The 10-day Hong Kong Flower Show 2007 has opened at Victoria Park. More than 180 organisations from 20 countries are showcasing 350,000 exotic flowers, landscape and floral art displays. This year’s theme flower is the geranium.
To celebrate 10 years since the handover, the Leisure & Cultural Services Department will present the Happy Reunion floral display, made up of 30,000 flowers.
The special exhibits corner holds the Wollemi Pine – one of the world’s oldest and rarest trees. The oldest known fossil dates back more than 90 million years.
Other highlights include the East Asian Games emblem, displays in bee and butterfly patterns, and the Institute of Horticulture’s scented plants display.
There will also be music and dance performances, tree work and floral art demonstrations, plant care workshops, horticultural talks and games.
Admission is $14. Children, students, seniors and the disabled get a 50% discount. Tickets are available at the park’s entrance.
