Flower Arrangement With Japanese Style Demo At UBD
As part of the Japanese Language and Culture Week at UBD, a special screening of a popular Japanese show called “Honey & Clover” as well as workshops on `Ikebana’ (the Japanese art of flower arrangement) and kendo (martial art of Japanese fencing) were held at the university’s Chancellor Hall yesterday.
The five-day event, which will end tomorrow, is being organised for the first time by the Language Centre of UBD.
Ms Yoko Kohno, the spouse of the Japanese Embassy’s minister counsellor, was on hand to demonstrate her ‘Ikebana’ skills.
The Japanese Language and Culture Week aims to promote Japanese language courses that are being offered at the UBD Language Centre.
There will be a movie screening on “Train Man Special” (with English subtitles) today at 12.15pm, as well as tea ceremony and calligraphy demonstrations at 2.30pm. — Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
