Gardner installed as new Garden Club president
The new officers of the Clarksville Garden Club were recently installed for a term of two years.
They are Helene Gardner, president; Jill Crow, first vice president; Barbara Jones, second vice president; Maryjane Swenenburg, recording secretary; Betty Lambert, corresponding secretary; and Diana Woodson, treasurer.
Gardner is replacing Helen Morris, who was the club’s president for the past four years.
Morris is an avid gardener, and member of the Nashville and National Rose societies.
Under Morris’ leadership and guidance, the club received the National Council Excellence Award of Garden Clubs for the past four years.
Her enthusiasm and flower exhibitions earned her the Sweepstakes, Collector’s Showcase Award and Award of Merit top ribbons in 2006.
She will remain involved with the Clarksville Garden Club, but her new interests include Helen’s Flowers, a florist and gift shop in Guthrie, Ky.
Gardner was elected president unanimously by the club members. She moved to Clarksville in 2006, and is a National Garden Club flower show-accredited judge. She specializes in flower arranging.
She taught flower arrangements at the Community College in Panama City, Fla., and was a member of the Panama City Garden Club for many years, holding several positions in the group.
