Garden Club to meet April 10
April 04, 2007 By: Momoy Category: Garden, EventsThe Fernley Garden Club will be holding a meeting on April 10 at 7 p.m. at 60 S. West Street, which is the second building south of the Wigwam Restaurant.
The guest speaker is Edward Ip of the Sierra Koi Club.
As part of a ‘fun’ fundraiser a nice plant will be raffled off during the meeting. Raffle tickets are five for $1.
At the March meeting Amy Guthrie was elected as president and Cindy Wade was re-elected as secretary/treasurer.
The Garden Club is for all gardeners, novice, newcomers to the area, and seasoned veterans.
The club especially welcomes new residents and at meetings veteran gardeners love to answer questions about gardening in Fernley.
The mission of the Club is to make “you welcome and successful.”
The Club offers this tip for growing vegetables, “It’s time to plant cool weather crops, such as onion sets, peas and greens. Wait until after May 20 to plant, tomatoes, peppers, corn, beans, squashes, eggplants and melons.
The Garden Club holds meetings on the second Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m.
