Carson is highlight of weekend Garden Show

Janet Carson is back!
One of the state’s best known gardening experts, Carson spoke at the first Arkansas County Home and Garden show in 1999 and came back two years later. This year, Carson is back to highlight the Friday night dinner with a talk on “The Top 10 Landscaping Mistakes.”
Carson is a horticulture specialist with the University of Arkansas Cooperative Extension Service in Little Rock. But she is well-known throughout the state for her weekly columns in the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette and regular television and radio appearances.
Carson has been with the Extension Service since 1980. She started out as an agriculture agent in Pulaski County, with a primary emphasis on horticulture. In 1988, Carson started the Master Gardener program. Since 1992, she has served as Extension horticulture specialist and statewide coordinator of the Master Gardeners’ program. Carson is responsible for providing information on all areas of horticulture with an emphasis on ornamentals to people in all 75 counties .
Tickets for Dinner with Janet Carson are $15 and are available at the Extension offices in DeWitt and Stuttgart. The meal will consist of dishes from the Arkansas County Master Gardeners Cookbook “The Cream of the Crop.” The trade show will open at 4 p.m.; dinner will follow at 6:30.
The show will reopen Saturday morning at 9 a.m. Vendors will be selling a wide variety of products
