Arabi homebuilder offers hurricane-tough homes
April 23, 2007 By: Momoy Category: Modular HomeAs modular homes grow in popularity in post-hurricane Louisiana, a St. Bernard Parish homebuilding company is hoping to sell houses that withstand 130-mph hurricane winds.
Barker Homes, 7601 W. Judge Perez Drive, will roll out the T-130, a traditionally built home the company says can be constructed in 11 weeks.
The T-130, which can be elevated to 9 feet, incorporates a steel foundation system to help protect the home’s wooden structure from termites and Louisiana’s humid climate.
Barker Homes says the T-130 can be built on site, unlike modular homes, which are shipped from a warehouse or factory in pieces and assembled at the site.
Three models of the T-130 are available. Buyers can choose from four facade designs and eight floor plans.
