New Home Construction Problems
Instead she says the home she’s built has been nothing but problems since she closed on the home. Right when she closed, Joy says she pointed out several problems to the company owner she bought the modular home from, Superior Home Values.
Some of Joy’s problems involved the walls not being straight, the crown molding not matching, and there were several door frame issues. In the master bedroom, one of the windows didn’t even open more than an inch. And in her master bathroom, there are tile issues, more molding problems and there’s not hot water in the shower.
Joy told Troubleshooter Diane Wilson, “I want to move in and be able to live here, retire and enjoy the rest of my days.” She said the owner of Superior Home Values promised several times to correct the issues. She said when workers would try and correct some problems they would create a bigger mess. Fed-up Joy called the ABC 11 Troubleshooter.
When Troubleshooter Diane Wilson called the owner of Superior Home Values, Larry Davis, he said he’s aware of her problems and admits the sub-contractor he hired to put the house together did a horrible job. He said he’s sending a whole crew to Joy’s house and will make every effort to fix all the problems.
It’s taken a few months, but there’s been some improvement. The door frames and crown molding issues were fixed along with the dents in the walls. In Joy’s bedroom, she can now open her window and the floor and bathroom tile were re-done and she now has hot water in the shower. But even with these improvements there’s still more to be done. Joy said, “If he could just get a crew to do everything in one day, it shouldn’t be three or four months, there’s not much work that needs to be done. If they would just stick to it and get it done.”
Troubleshooter Diane Wilson has talked the owner of Superior Home Values several times and he tells her he insists he’s trying to fix and resolve all of Joy’s problems as quickly as he can.
