Interior designer adds style to indoor plants
In recognition of the growing need for professional design in plantscaping interior spaces, Rentokil Tropical Plants has a qualified interior designer on its team which is working with clients across Australia.
“Interior plantscaping is much more than indoor plant hire now,” says Rachael O’Keefe, Rentokil Tropical Plants’ Design Manager.
O’Keefe came to Rentokil Tropical Plants with a wide range of commercial experience in business, design and construction industry, backed up with a Diploma of Arts in Interior Design and Decoration. Also, she is ideally suited to the role as she has had experience in a boutique plant nursery.
Rachael’s is working directly with architects and designers, providing training and support to the sales teams in matters of design and design trends, and assists in the selection of the ranges of containers.
Apart from the aesthetic quality of indoor plants, another key message which is now getting out among designers, architects and the general community is the benefit of indoor plants to indoor air quality.
“With the fact that the Green Building Council Australia has recently included indoor plants in their assessment for Green Star rating buildings, indoor plants can score 2 credit points towards the office interiors’ rating – the equivalent of interior lighting,” O’Keefe said.
“It is great to see the Green Building Council of Australia recognizing the role they play in removing volatile organic compounds and their bio-filtration capabilities. Not only do they look great, but they have a natural role to play as well.”
While based in Melbourne, O’Keefe is travelling around Australia to work with clients of Rentokil Tropical Plants and to spread the word among architects and designers of the value of interior plantscaping.
