Impatiens Bring Color To Summer Garden
June 17, 2007 By: Momoy Category: GardenImpatiens rank among the top 10 most popular annuals in the United States, primarily because they are colorful, dependable plants which bloom steadily all summer, according the master gardener Tom MacCubbin.
If you want color for the shady spots, it is hard to beat impatiens in the warmer months!
“I love to grow impatiens,” MacCubbin said.
MacCubbin said his latest flowers are some of the best he has seen in a long time.
There are lots of color to impatiens. There are the nice, kind-of orangish ones, the purples, the whites and even a deep orange color.
MacCubbin starts with a good potting soil, and then he adds the impatiens.
You can get impatiens at your local garden center and then plant them in a container.
You can have all one color or you can mix them up.
Just make sure the soil stays moist, get a nice container full of them, put them in the shady spots, and away they are going to grow.
Make sure you fertilize them. MacCubbin said he likes to use a slow-release type fertilizer.
So, if you want some great color during the warmer months, in the shade, think of impatiens.
