Indeed, man and the nature can produce such a magnificent product as it is representing in Ridge House, a mission that has been completed by Bohlin Cywinski Jackson. Stretching along the broad ridge in Canada, this house was conceived as a place for a family to conduct such family gathering as well as for a personal tranquility since this house looks so cozy yet elegant. Amidst a thick grove of small woods where thousand evergreens grow as the shade of the environment, the first glimpse of the house soon captures the attention with its long, linear core of stone that corresponds with the ridge under a single-slope roof accented with a steel-framed glass. Entering the house, we’ll see another special arrangement of interior and feel that the inside part seems so warm with two large fireplaces. The wooden walls and stone walls are combined and they complete each other perfectly. Tall walls of glass provide a medium through which the dwellers witness the beautiful movement of the sun. Moreover, it allows the sunrays to penetrate the house to brighten it with a warm and soothing sunlight. No wonder that looking at this lovely house, we are thinking of a blend between man-made construction with the serenity of the natural world.
